1913 Ca 1913 Bathing in the Canal = Hermitage Avenue

This remarkably clear photo gives a visual idea of the details of the swimming area in the Hermitage Avenue area of the city. There even appears to be a diving board! I will again depend on my numerous "west end" visitors to enhance the description of this interesting graphic.

Tom,

Once again, another great post regarding the Western section of Trenton (my favorite). The top picture is actually the Water Power canal (now route 29), at the base of S. Hermitage Ave., running parallel to Riverside Ave. The "diving board" would have been on the Stacey Park side of the WP canal, approximately where the pedestrian overpass is currently located. Not to be confused with the Delaware & Raritan Canal which crosses Hermitage Ave. The bottom picture I am not sure of, but can assume it is the same general area.

You actually posted another picture of this area (circa 1914) on January 14, 2009, in regards to homes advertised for sale in the Atterbury Tract.

Thanks again.
