1962: WE CALLED IT "CLASS NIGHT" AT HHS

Above is an extract of awards being handed out to those students who went to Trenton High when the majority of the students finished grades 9 through 12 and received diplomas.

JUST LOOK AT ALL THOSE SCHOLARSHIPS!

No computers, no Google, no IPads, no Kindles, no internet, no MTV, or other prime time distractions, just old fashioned books and the will to learn. Their was no "Wikipedia," but there was Encyclopedia Britannica (if they could afford it.) If not, the library (a real, genuine "learning center") had all the books they needed. And to think they took the time to research their subject matter in those rapidly vanishing books with paper pages!

1922: THE WASHINGTON CROSSING IN AS IT WAS

I placed this in my "HAMILTON HIGH SCHOOL" folder due to the fact that this historic treasure has been the host for countless high school reunions. As I recall, my class of 1951 had 2 or 3 reunions here. The photo above from 1922 is far different from the Inn as it is today. Many modifications have been made and the area expanded.

We have reached the acceptable minimum of 50+ for our 60th reunion. Above is a cut and past of an email I received from Lucia "Lucy" Spera DePolvera advising one and all from HHS '51 that we're ready to go.

1944: THE ANNUAL TINDALL FAMILY REUNION

Cubberley, West, Mount, Hutchinson, Pullen, Ely, and of course Tindall are surnames of some of the area's earliest pioneer residents. Here's a graphic reporting the 1944 reunion of the Tindall family at the Tindall farm on Kuser Road, the site of today's Veterans' Park and the John Abbott II house.

1989: HOLY ANGELS, BATMAN; A REUNION!

Grammar school reunions seem to be getting more difficult as more and more folks opt to stay home. Some years back, we tried to organize a Hamilton High School Reunion event, but alas, there were absolutely no takers. The attempt was abandoned, and Lorraine Feehan May, Carol Bencivengo, Manny Butera, Tom Glover, and others who made the valiant attempt folded our collective tents and went on our way. As to the Holy Angels Reunion, I see Phillies Phanatice Freddie Schulz in the group. I would bet that right about now Freddie is down in Clearwater Florida watching his favorite team playing spring training baseball. Incidentally, many of us miss Father Mike Walsh; one of the most charasmatic Priests to come down the pike in a long, long, time.

1987: STEINERT CLASS REUNION

HHS '52: Here Comes Number 55! - Missing Classmates

Hamilton High's class of 1952 will be celebrating their 55th reunion in this year of 2007. From my Hamilton High School folder in the local history collection, posting the a graphic which was given to me by Martha Bisbee Bogdan when the class was preparing to celebrate their 40th back in 1992. I assume the "missing persons" will be pretty much the same this year. My former next door neighbor Shirley Sneath Benton was living in Arizona the last time I spoke with her daughter.

HHS Class of '55 Thirty First Reunion

Here are the movers and shakers behind the reunion planning for the Hornets class of '55. Thanks to Jack Lacy for a nice collection of Mercer Messengers to add to my collection to add to the library's collection. Jack Lacy was the publisher of the Messenger back in the 80's when I was writing "The Way We Were" and my friend Wayne Davis was editing my articles. You will be seeing more posts from the 1980's era; stay tuned!

1895: Trenton High School Reunion

To my friend, Sid Dietz, here's one of the files relating to the ORIGINAL Trenton High School that I promised to post. I hope you can relate to it, and maybe even send me a memory or two for inclusion in the Library's "SCHOOLS, TRENTON" folder. To those who are unfamiliar with the original Trenton High School, NO, it was not on Greenwood and Chestnut Avenues. That was the SECOND Trenton High School. This one was much much smaller and located on Mercer Street in downtown Trenton.
