1969: BILL TIGHUE VS. CLIFF SNEDEKER
Politics will always be identified by party number one attacking party number two on a stance with which each holds firm beliefs. As that old saying goes, "that's what makes politics." I am currently going through my "POLITICS" files and find that the folder is growing even as I search for more on the subject. I was out of the Trenton-Hamilton-Mercer area during the 1960's, 70's and 80's as I was involved in my daily commute to New Brunswick where Lynch and company were battling against their political opposites. This article is particularly apropos as it relates to a subject that is in today's headlines with Frontier Airlines making local news as well as the folks in Ewing and Mercer County working to improve Mercer Airport.

1938: POLITICS IN HAMILTON TOWNSHIP
"The more things change, the more they stay the same" is a time honored saying that has been around for years. It supposedly comes from a French intellectual from the very distant past, and the veracity of the saying has endured over many centuries. However, as can be seen in the article above, it certainly does apply to American politics, local and national. The above article details the outcome of the November, 1938 election wherein the Republican party regained the reins of local government in Hamilton Township. I have highlighted the paragraph where "housecleaning" will be the order of the day. As a non-political observation, house cleaning still exists today. My problem with that concept is that qualified and competent people should not be considered fodder for political "house cleaning."

1990: THE HAMILTON TOWNSHIP DEMOCRATIC CLUB
I received an email with the graphic above attached suggesting that I might want to post it on the Hamilton Township Public Library's "TOM GLOVER HAMILTON SCRAPBOOK" website. I DID post it some time ago. Above is a cut and paste of the original post which I posted on April 16, 2007. I am delighted that the graphic will be used for the historic value to whomever is interested. That is the reason for this website; to deliver interesting history to those who are interested in our Mercer County heritage. However, it is customary (and ethically correct) to credit the source when downloading and using graphics from any source and re-posting them without revealing said source. A substantial amount of work is involved in tweaking the original graphics that appear on this website. Most of my posts are identified as to source, but some get by without the identification. I appreciate all the many visitors who send me photos to post on this blog. Be assured that I will credit them as the source unless they prefer anonymity. If and when I err or neglect to reveal a source, It is human error, and not intentional.

1981: RAFFERTY FOR GOVERNOR?

"TOM GLOVER'S HAMILTON LIBRARY SCRAPBOOK."
Indeed, there would be no Hamilton Township Public Library Local History Collection. Back in the early 1990's, Jack Rafferty, Jack Lacy, Mo Rossi, and Joe Belina agreed with me that Hamilton Township was not capitalizing on its magnificent historical heritage. It was my aim to change that unfortunate reality. Jack Rafferty, unlike many local politicians in high places, had an intense interest in our local history.
