1985: NOTTINHAM HIGH MARCHING UNIT AWARDS

Thanks to Ms. Karyn Rusnak Benton, I have a small collection of the HAMILTON TOWNSHIP AREA REPORTER which was in the Mike Rusnak collection of local Hamilton memorabilia. I will be scanning and posting many photos and articles from this publication which was very popular back in the 1980's.

1987: NOTTINGHAM NORTH STAR MARCHING UNIT

They're in their early 40's now, but these North Stars were a popular marching unit among the area high schools back in 1987. First place for their percussion unit, and general excellence.

1986: TWO NOTTINGHAM STUDENTS ARE PUBLISHED

There have been COUNTLESS changes in our society since the advent of the personal computer and the cell phone. I often wonder how many of today's younger generation will be able to sit down with a pen or pencil and write a letter or a manuscript or a book using old fashioned "cursive" writing. Most of the young folks today are "texting" when they don't have their phones glued to their ears. To my fellow members of wrinkle city who know how to write the old fashioned way, the new fad is utilizing a "shorthand" process which adds a whole new and very cryptic style to the "King's English." What was "laugh out loud" is now LOL. "By the way" is now BTW and on and on. My high school and grammar school teachers would "like, you know", turn over in their graves.

1987: Nottingham High School PTA Sports Awards

Years from now, these graphics I am posting for posterity will be of interest to these North Stars as they attend they 40th, 50th, and maybe even 60th reunions.

1994: NOTTINGAHAM PRESENTS "SINGIN' IN THE RAIN

"I'm singin' in the rain, just singin' in the rain, what a glorious feeling, I'm happy again..."
I love that musical classic and really miss Gene Kelly, one of my favorite movie stars from years gone by. I didn't get to see Nottingham's production of the musical, but based on my experience with the musical excellence of ALL of Hamilton's high schools, I would wager that the presentation was professionally performed.

1989: CHRIS INMAN AND GREG MARTINETTI

These young men are happy to be wearing the senior "mortar board," after completing twelve years of their education, and move on to bigger things.

1989: NOTTINGHAM COMMENCEMENT

With their "mortar boards" flying high and confetti floating back to earth, the North Stars from Nottingham High School's class of 1989 bid farewell to their alma mater. For some it was undoubtedly a sad ending to 4 years of high school. To most grads it was a farewell to the many friends that were made during those high school years.

1978: YOUTH LEAGUE SOCCER CHAMPS

Once again, my thanks go out to my dear friend and fellow historian, Alan Wildblood who wrote regarding my caption on the above photo. I erroneously attributed this team of young ladies to the Nottingham North Stars High School team. Thankfully, Alan remembered the local soccer star Lisa Gmitter played for the Steinert High School Spartans. On closer inspection, I note the "H" letters on the team, and assume that "H" refers to Hamilton. The writer of the text under the photo referred to " the Nottingham fields," which is possibly, but not necessarily Nottingham High School fields. Perhaps a future visitor who is familar with the Central Jersey Youth Soccer League can provide some insight.

1979: NOTTINGHAM HIGH SCHOOL: IN THE BEGINNING

Herb Griffiths was the lone Board of Ed member to vote against the concept of converting Nottingham to a high school. The Nottingham (North) conversion to a high school , along with Steinert High school(East), forever changed the decades old concept of K throuh 8 grammar schools and on to Hamilton High (West).

1986: NOTTINGHAM HIGH SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS

Here's a 22 year old photo of the "movers and shakers" from the class of 1986 at Nottingham High. Among those "Northstars" is a dear family friend, a neighbor just up the street from the Glover family, Carla Crea.

Not to put a damper on things, but these were the class officers from the Class of 1987. I graduated with them all! Loved my school!
