1932: THE TRENTON FARMERS' MARKET

This rather rare photo of the old Trenton Farmers' Market on Lamberton Street gives a graphic look at the market and get a good idea of its size. For quite a few summers as a teenager, my best friend Don Slabicki and I worked at the Bertothy farm on Kuser and Leonard road, the present site of Trenton Catholic Academy. We picked corn by day, piled bag after bag with the earliest "early corn." We sold from the tailgate of Joe Bertothy's 36 Ford Station wagon. Always a bakers dozen of 13.

1932: TRENTON FARMERS' MARKET

Old timers will remember when the Trenton Farmers' Market was crowded to the max with farmers from all point in the compass bringing their produce to the this South Trenton market. My buddy Don Slabicki and I spent many summer nights there, selling Jersey "Sweet Corn" from the back of Joe Bertothy's truck, and sometimes from the tailgate on his 1935 Ford Station Wagon.

1940: Remember the "Farmers' Market?

Don Slabicki and I spent a few summer evenings down there in South Trenton selling corn from the back of Joe Bertothy's 1935 Ford Station Wagon. Thirty five cents a dozen, a dozen being a baker's dozen of 13.
