1923: Trenton's notorious "Comfort Station"

Only those of us in the "Senior Citizen" category will remember this vestige of Trenton's past. As I recall, my Facebook friend Tom Tighue posted a photo of this building picturing workers shoveling snow from the sidewalk surrounding the building. Many are the citizens who wished they had brought a clip on clothes pin for their respective noses when they answered nature's call and they had to make a visit to the structure.

1922: TRENTON COMFORT STATION - SO. MONTGOMERY ST.

Few indeed are those who recall this old landmark in downtown Trenton. Indeed, given the pitiful few seniors who are into computing I would guess that there are very few visitors to this site who remember that concrete structure which once graced the center of South Montgomery Street in downtown Trenton. Here's architect Harry Hill's drawing of the facade of the womens' side of the building.

1923: THE TRENTON PUBLIC REST ROOMS

Breathes there an old time Trentonian over the age of 70 who doesn't remember that very odorous building known as the Trenton Comfort Station? There were two places in the Trenton area known for a distinctive and quite unpleasant aroma: The Monkey House at Cadwalader Park, and the Public Comfort Station at E. State and Montgomery Streets.
