1989: DR. JAMES FEDERICI RECEIVES FELLOWSHIP AWARD

DR.Jim is now retired but very active in the local community. He is currently serving as the president of the Historical Society of Hamilton Township. Jim's knowledge of local history is a matter of fact. He has led numerous school children to historical sites throughout the township, and is very active in the operation of the John Abbott II House on Kuser Road at the entrance to Veterans' Park.

1979: My Friend, Former Mayor Al DeMartin

Here's a photo of the 1979 Board of Ed, with my friend, Al DeMartin in the center of the photo. When he was Superintendent of the Hamilton School system, Al let borrow a few of the minutes from the early years of the Hamilton Township school system's collection of minute books. It was a treasure trove of fabulous local history. Many of the items which I transcribed will be included in the 2009 Kuser School Centennial Celebration. I have been told by current Super, Neil Bencivengo that I will also be able to access additional records and bring some of the magnificent heritage of the Hamilton school system to those who are interested in our past system of education.

1977: Herb Griffiths, School Board Member

Bromley's Herb Griffiths was a Hamilton High Biology teacher when I was a student at West. He was also very active in the school's soccer program. Herb went on to be in the upper echelon of the Hamilton school system.

1977: Carmella De Marco: Board of Ed Candidate

Before she became a Democratic Council member, Carmella was involved with the Hamilton educational system.

1974: CARL MOLDOVAN TELLS IT LIKE IT IS

I inserted "LIGHTNING STRIKES THE HAMILTON B.O.E." into this graphic. Even though I have a history of being a fierce supporter of Hamilton's schools, as a senior citizen I find myself wondering why I don't get just a bit of a tax break from the large amount of my taxes which are going to the schools. The amount taken by the Township is not even close to the amount that goes to Hamilton's school system. Like most senior citizens, I feel that we paid taxes all our lives, especially during the time our children went to the schools, and there should be a consideration somewhere in there that we get a bit of relief.

But there I go again, exposing another of my personal "defects:" I'm an alturistic dreamer.

1986: AMERICAN EDUCATION WEEK

Did you know that the third week in November is "American Education Week?" I sure didn't, but I do now. Do they still set aside this week to focus on our educational system?

1929: "UPROAR" IN HAMILTON'S SCHOOL BOARD

Apparently Mr. Elmer Middleton felt that he was being upstaged by other members of the 1929 Board of Education as this article from the Trenton Times of 1929. It was really a spirited discussion!

1926: Thank you, Greenwood School

Here's the Board of Education as they pose in front of the Greenwood School in Hamilton, back in those pre-computer years, a student had to wait until he or she reached high school before they were allowed to use the typewriter. As a result, they were generally proficient in "the three r's."
