1909: OLD TRENTON LANDMARKS ARE DISAPPEARING

Did you ever wonder what Trenton would look like today if our forefathers weren't so eager to replace incredibly historic structures in center city Trenton in their pursuit of "progress?" I have started a folder in the Hamilton Library Local History digital database entitled "LANDMARKS-TRENTON." Many of those old columns are very painful to read.

Where pray tell was there a freight station on State Street? I remember Reading Freight over by the Battle Monument and a large freight yard off Olden near the bus yard and next to Crescent Wire. My only real memory of the Korean War came from walking down in the evenings with Dad and they would be loading tanks and other heavy armor from the concrete platforms under the eye of the GI's with guard dogs.
