I will never forget the thrill of a trip "downtown" from our rural Hamilton home. Catch the L-Liberty Street bus at Cedar Lane and South Olden Avenue, wait on the porch of "Bee Bee's Tavern" in wet or cold weather, waiting for th Trenton Transit bust of reach what was then the end of the line. Then mom pays the driver a dime, he deposits it in a coin type receiver on his hip and we're on our way. Up South Olden to Liberty Street, Liberty Street to South Broad Street and all the way into town. What memorable trips they were!

May I have a transfer please? As kids when there wasn't much to do, we took as many buses as we could. You had to make sure you had enough to pay for the fare home as the transfer wasn't good for return trips.

I got on the bus on Broad street in front of Holy Angles church. That took me to and State and Broad. If I had to go any further I needed a transfer. Good old Trenton Transit.

HI TOM...IN 1950 I WAS 0N ROUTE 9, WHICH WAS WEST STATE ST. FROM WILLOW TO CALHOUN. THAT ROUTE WAS THE HEAVIEST IN THE OFFICE AND WAS LOADED WITH DOCTORS, LAWYERS AND PROMINATE PEOPLE. THEY GOT THREE DELIVERIES A DAY AND I HAD A PROBLEM WITH HIGH STEPS ON MOST OF THE BUILDINGS. THE MAILMAN WAS LOADED WITH SAMPLES AND HEAVY MAIL FOR ALMOST EVERY STOP. THANK GOD I BID OFF IT AND DROVE A PARCEL POST TRUCK THE REST OF MY TIME AT THE POST OFFICE. BEST REGARDS.
Tom, is this facing South? Great memories.
It's looking east toward State and Broad, Ron.
