1912: HAMILTON FIRE COMPANY IN RURAL BROMLEY

Frank Vliet and Alvin Sykes were prominent Hamilton Township citizens back in the early years of Hamilton Township. Vliet, who lived on Johnston Avenue, was an early proponent of assuring that Bromley got a fair share of township services. The above articles from the local press point to the austere beginnings of Hamilton's legendary "Hamilton Fire Company," whose building I have posted above showing the front facade. Given the incredible growth of Hamilton Township since the mid 1950's, reading the above verbal letters to the editor point to the rural condition of Hamilton as the suburbs began to spread eastward from Trenton.
