1915: TRENTON COUNTRY CLUB GOLF CADDIES

I caddied 1 day up in Jackson, New New Hampshire during my 1950 short-lived visit to that beautiful White Mountains resort town. It is hard work. that golf bag gets very heavy. We slung the bag over our shoulders. No carts for the caddies at the Wentworth Hall Golf range.

HI TOM...I RECALL MY BROTHER LOU AS A CADDY THERE IN THE 1920'S. I BELIEVE THEY RECEIVED 50 CENTS FOR EACH ROUND OF 18 HOLES. THEY DID GET A CHANCE TO PLAY AT TIMES AND LOU GOT TO SHOOT IN THE 80'S. BEST REGARDS.

Tom:

Ralph is right, the caddie was paid 50 cents per bag per round.
I caddied at the "Oaklands" in the 1940's, and that was what I was paid. We were required to carry two bags. The tips that we got never exceeded the 50 cents the member was charged for our services. After a summer or two, I begged off of the rolling hilss of the Trenton Country Club which would have worn Charles Atlas down!
( for those who remember Charles Atlas). I latered opted for the much more level fairways of Greenacres CC in Lawrenville.
The tips were no better, but the work was a lot easier!
Someone asked me why I continue to run a business at age 78 plus.
I tell them, I know no other way of living, but to work for it.
Been doing it since I was 13.
