1917: THE FUTURE SITE OF GREENWOOD SCHOOL

Would you believe that this document was destined for the recycle bin? Way back before history was considered relevant in the local area, hundreds of documents such as the above were considered non-relevant and destroyed. Thanks to the foresight of former School Superintendent Al DeMartin, these documents have been saved and are being digitized in the Hamilton Library's Local History Collection. for future generations to research. The above is the invoice submitted to the township for the surveyors who laid out the land on which today's Greenwood School is located. The land was part of the Harter estate, a pioneer family in the Bromley section who once held substantial real estate in the area of the Municipal Building and the old Fashion Stud Farm land. I remember the nursery which was behind the Municipal building on Nottingham Way, once operated by Lou Harter.

NOTE: I HAVE ADDED THE PHOTO OF THE SCHOOL
TO THE DOCUMENT.
