THAT OTHER GENERATION: WE PLAYED OUTDOORS ALL DAY

The above is part of a series I did back 1984 recalling those long ago years when girls and boys spent their days playing in the outdoors from dawn til dusk, only taking a time out for lunch dinner, or as we called it "supper." Those "hi-tech" toys are depriving many of our present generation of the healthy wholesome outdoors.

We all still played outdoors all summer in my day too. I guess that
changed with cable and video games
in the 80s and still more with the advent of the net in the 90s.

My friends and I played out all day too. I was so lucky -- the neighborhood off Parkside Ave. was safe and we went back and forth to the Cadwalader tennis courts and baseball field. We also played all the games you described, Tom. There was an old lot with a demolished building behind our home and we would exploer the ground for hours. What fun.
