Only card-carrying senior citizens will remember that downtown Trenton retail store, Hurley Tobin. My family couldn't afford replacing our furniture, mostly relying on my Uncle to give us his cast offs. However, Hurley Tobin was a house of quality.

Hi Tom: My wife and I bought our first bedroom suite at Hurley-Tobins for 98 dollars. That was in 1939, right before we were married. It was a 4 piece suite made of real wood, not plastic. We had that set for more than 20 years, even after moving considerable times. It's one more example of getting your money's worth in those days. I have to think we all had better deals then, than today. Best regards.
Van Sciver was another furniture store, on South Broad. A "just looking" place, but beautiful quality. Their home base was in Camden
