From my growing "AUTOMOBILIA" folder, this ad for a new 1937 Hudson Terraplane has been all dressed up for the Christmas season. Many pages ago on this blog, I posted an ad for a 30's era automobile and opined that it would be wonderful if some resourceful auto manufacturer reproduced a car like they did during those years of EFFICIENT steel bumpers, and truly solid construction. As I dreamed the impossible dream, I further opined that the old inefficient mechanical brakes be replaced with hydraulic brakes and power steering replace that old mechanical steering mechanism, and modern heating and air conditioning be incorporated. Of course they would never be able to use the HEAVY steel body construction they used back then, but today's modern space age plastics would probably be a substitute. Wouldn't you like to see a 2009 replica of a 1937 Hudson Terraplane with a big red bow on it in your driveway......just like they are doing in that Lexus commerical we see on TV? As you might imagine, I have always been attracted to the autos from the past; especially those from the golden age of American Automobilia, 1930's through the 50's. You may be assured that you will find future posts of golden age autos....maybe even the auto I lusted for and almost bought, but didn't have the 1200 bucks: a "Sharknose" Graham!

Hi Tom: Speaking of older cars, in my younger days I probably owned most of the cars available. To name a few there were, Nash, Packard, Studebaker and back in the 20s we had a Star. Would you believe, the Star had shades on the windows and flower vases. I already mentioned the Hudson and these are in addition to the cars that are available today. Happy Holidays.
