Are there any other 76 year old boys beside me who still remember the joys of playing with those lead soldiers that were all the rage back in the 30's and 40's? One of our very favorite games was an outdoor game we called "Hide the Soldier." Don Slabicki, Bobby Soffel and I played that game many many times. We made up the very simple rules. Choose a spot where there are weeds, bushes or other foliage where one could hide one of our lead soldiers out of sight. The hidden soldier acted as a sniper. Object of the game, we moved our soldier into the battleground, each time taking cover behind a stone, brush, or other vegetation that would prevent a direct shot from the hidden soldier. We didn't realize it, but we were teaching ourselves basic geometry defining a completely straight line from the sniper to the victim. We played that game by the hour. Ahh...memories are made of this.Most of the younger generation have soldiers made of that new-fangled thing known as plastic.

Tom, I had the rubber kind back in the 50's and planted them in garden and threw dirt bombs at them, what kids did in those days, good memories.
