1876: MAP OF THE BATTLE OF TRENTON

SOUTH TRENTON IS REALLY EXPERIENCING A COMEBACK. THANKS TO THE MOVERS AND SHAKERS WHO ARE TURNING ONE SMALL AREA OF CENTRE STREET INTO WHAT I HOPE WILL BECOME ANOTHER MAGNIFICENT AREA SIMILAR TO THE MERCER-JACKSON NEIGHBORHOOD. COUNCILMAN REV. JIM COSTON, PASTOR OF THE HISTORIC FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH ON CENTRE STREET, IS ONE OF THOSE WHO HAS BROUGHT A REFRESHING "YES WE CAN"ATTITUDE TO AN AREA WHICH HAS BEEN SERIOUSLY NEGLECTED OVER THE YEARS. BESIDE THE RESTORATION AND CONVERSION OF THE OLD ADAM EXTON CRACKER PLANT, ONE OF THE FOCAL POINTS OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD RENEWAL PROJECT WILL CONCENTRATE ON FERRY STREET. THE MAP SHOWS THE LOCATION OF THE FERRY BEFORE THE SOUTH TRENTON AREA WAS POPULATED. IT IS A FASCINATING LOOK AT COLONIAL TRENTON AND THE AREA KNOWN AS BLOOMSBURY.
