As a boy during World War II....

Airplane model building is near the top of my very special boyhood memories. Brother Bud and his buddies, "Beb" and "Brut" Peters perfected the art with the most incredibly beautiful tissue-covered, rubber band powered "stick model" airplanes. Names like "Testor's," "LePage's," "Comet," and Guillow's" to this day stir an especially warm spot in my heart. My boyhood buddy Don Slabicki and I tried to emulate the model building perfection of Brother Bud and his friends. We built Piper Cubs, Bell Aerocobras, Curtis P-40's, Luscombe "Silvaires," and countless other models, all the while learning patience, craftsmanship, discipline, and neatness.
