1869: Suburban development begins



Did you know that back in the 1850's the area east of the canal on South Broad Street was mostly cornfields and orchards? From Broad and Hamilton eastward, the area had not yet began the process of development. The article here tells of Chestnut, Greenwood, Hamilton and the area bordering on the St. Francis Hospital area as expansion of the city of Trenton began.
