CATHEDRAL GIRLS BUY A GRUMMAN AVENGER FOR THE WAR EFFORT!

I find this article to be incredibly interesting! Remember, during those dark and scary years of World War II, America was forced to convert hundreds of manufacturing facilities into war material. The fact that these girls raised enough money to acquire this donation to the war effort is unbelievable but true.

Tom, this is the feel-good story of the day.

Pretty sure this is an Avenger torpedo bomber and not a Curtiss SB2C dive bomber. The article doesn't say if the Avenger was a Long Island produced Grumman TBF or a Trenton produced General Motors Eastern Aircraft TBM. Hopefully, the girls spent their money locally! ;-)

Hi Bill: The writer for the Cathedral High School called it a "dive bomber" and he/she should have said "torpedo bomber.
