1937: SOUTH BROAD STREET APPROACHING BROAD STREET

Here's another pair of zoomed photo that will place you smack dab in the middle of South Broad Street as you approach Front and then Broad Street. A bit of sign enhancement on that "Hamilton Jeweler" sign and clarifying the feature move at the RKO Capitol gives an incredible view of Trenton as it was nearly 80 years ago. I have also digitized the other side of the street and it is in the photo below.

Tom:
Just a clarification: The top photo is "approaching East Front St." not State which is beyond the magnificent Capitol Theater. I heard recently from Marty Siegle son of Irv who founded Hamilton Jewelers, and the Father of Scott who took over the business from his dad Marty. Wonderful family, great store.
Despite living in Virginia, they are still "our Jewelers" This was the store I began doing business in, than Lawrence, Princeton, and now Palm Beach

PS
Clicked too soon. the lower photo is approach Lafayette St.
This area was just a few blocks from where I grew up and went going there, it was referred to as going "uptown".
This was as opposed to those living above the Battle Monument going "Downtown"

Hi Mike:Thanks for the Front Street observation. However, I the direction is correct. One is definitely approaching State Street even though I didn't mention Front Street which is also being approached. Most of the younger generation relate to State Street much more readily than Front.
