What an incredibly pristine photo of South Broad Street from what may be the roof of the building that once housed the famous Ballantine Beer clock! That beautiful line of cars heading into and out of Trenton from State and Broad brings warm feelings to we older Trentonians than any other vestige of Trenton antiquity. This was when Trenton was a vibrant city. There were no glass encrusted sky scrapers and commercial establishments proliferated. Gone are the days.

Note the gap between the Capitol Theater and the adjoining building, that was for the emergency exits. There was also a small very obscure luncheonette down that alley. Does anyone else remember that? That was were, as a kid, I met Del Shannon having lunch between his "lip synch" shows when his "Runaway" song was a hit.

I RECALL ED, HANGING AROUND THE STAGE ENTRANCE OF THE CAPITOL WHEN WE WERE KIDS AND I WAS PAID 5O CENTS TO JUST STAND ON STAGE FOR A FEW MINUTES. THOSE WERE THE DAYS. BEST REGARDS.

I recall that alley rather clearly
It was concrete paved ( the only alley of of concrete I had seen in Trenton in the 40's.) It traveled behind the Daily's store to become a parkling lot that opened on to Front St. Behind Gimbles. I worked at Swerns in the 50's while in High School, and parked my car across the street in that parking lot when we departed Swerns from the Service door facing the lot.
