Here's a cut and paste of a small segment of South Warren Street as it looked in 1930. Tex's Cafe can be clearly seen on the right. South Warren Street was a busy thorofare before re-development detoured it over to South Broad Street. I recall going to the Penn Jersey Store back in my early teens for parts and accessories.

Tom: Having grown up in this area, and ultimately moving to the 500 block of So.Warren St., I too remember the heavy traffic on this road.
The reason was; it was US Rt. 1; the "Linclon Highway"! Rt.1 @ Brunswick Pike faded into Princeton Ave., which became Warren St. at the Battle Monument. At this view, the "Trenton Makes" bridge in my old enclave was just 3 blocks away, and took the traffic into Pennsylvania and onto Phila.
When traveling, I still prefer the old Federal Highway system with the bucolic scenerly along median stip highways rather than the ribbon of deaths called the "Interstate" system.
