I may very well have been at one of these Industrial League games at Wetzel Field back in the mid to late 1940's. I must admit that I have a tough time recalling the teams that made up that league. Roebling, American Steel and Wire, Panelyte and there it stops. Canny visitors add to that abbreviated list?

HI TOM...OTHER TEAMS THAT I CAN RECALL WERE C.V. HILLS, CRESANT WIRE, STATE HIGHWAY, PRISON OFFICERS AND THERMOID. IT WAS A STRONG LEAGUE AND GAVE THE PLAYERS A CHANCE TO WORK DURING THE GREAT DEPRESSION. I WAS OUT THERE AT WETZEL FIELD EVERY NIGHT SHAGGING BALLS BEFORE EACH GAME. BEST REGARDS.

One team I remember was Olden A.A. My uncle Arther,s brother,Tony Nitti was the catcher and manager and lefty Tesauro played center field. My dad and I went almost every night. Great fun.

THAT INDUSTRIAL LEAGUE WAS ONE OF THE BETTER LEAGUES AMONG MANY THAT PLAYED AT WETZEL FIELD. I TRIED HARD TO PLAY WITH CRESANT WIRE, THE TEAM WAS PUT TOGATHER BY WALT PARKER, ONE OF THE UMPIRES AROUND. IT WAS DURING THE DEPRESSION YEARS AND FINDING WORK WAS NOT EASY. I THOUGHT I HAD A GOOD CHANCE BUT HE MUST HAVE FELT I WAS TOO YOUNG. IT WAS RIGHT AFTEWR I PLAYED WITH THE SCHROTHS IN 1937. BEST REGARDS.
What fun shagging balls, for Fred Scully. Probably early 50s. Don't remember how much. Do remember some neighbors being upset if I went into their yards to retrieve a ball. Ron
