These are for you, Ralph and other local and national baseball fans from the golden years of the 30's, 40's and 50's. I am sure there are more Lucarella columns still to be found and will be sure to post them as they become available.

THANK YOU TOM, VERY MUCH. YOUR KIND COMMENTS ABOUT A TIME WHEN WE WERE INVOLVED WITH THE SCHROTHS ARE VERY PLEASANT. I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THAT YEAR WHEN THE 1948 TEAM WON THE AMERICAN LEGION WORLD SERIES IN INDIANAPOLIS. MY BROTHER "CHUCK" PLAYED A BIG PART IN THAT GAME AND MY BROTHERF LOU AND I WERE FORTUNATE TO BE THERE TO SEE IT, ALONG WITH MANY OTHER TRENTONIANS. WHEN I PLAYED WITH THE SCHROTHS IN 1936, WE HAPPENED TO FACE A HAMILTON LEGION TEAM THAT WAS REALLY GREAT AND WE WERE ELIMINATED. I STILL FELT VERY HAPPY TO HAVE BEEN SELECTED TO PLAY WITH THE SCHROTHS THAT YEAR, IT WAS ONE OF THE BIG AMBITIONS OF MY YOUTH, THANKS AGAIN TOM.
I MIGHT ADD TOM, WE GOT TO GIVE MY OLDER BROTHER LOU A PLUG. HE WAS PLAYING BALL IN THE 20'S WITH THE CHAMBERSBURG RED SOX. I RECALL THE TEAM PLAYING MOST OF THEIR GAMES AT STACY PARK AND THE AMERICAN BRIDGE FIELD LOCALLY. I BELIEVE YOU FOUND THEIR LINEUP IN ONE OF THE EDITIONS OF THE TIMES. THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR FINE EFFORTS.
HI AGAIN TOM....MEMORIES OF PLAYING WITH THE SOUTHARDS IN THE CITY TWILIGHT LEAGUE ALONG WITH ART {CHIRP) HOLLAND, THE FORMER MAYOR OF TRENTON FOR MANY YEARS AND A GOOD FRIEND, HAVE MADE MY OLD AGE A LOT BEARABLE. REGARDS.
A splendid heritage in Trenton Baseall, one that I can only admire from afar. Though you are 94 and counting, may I thank you for sharing your treasured memories with us as I and other can only sit back in awe. I ws 8 when the Schroth's won the Amercian Leagion Champs but I still carry that knowledge along with me. My claim to fame is I got the first EVER hit in the West End Little League in 1952. Please share more of your stories when you can.

I'm already working on the Lucarella boys, Ralph. I remember you said he played for the C'burg Red Sox in a former post. Hang in there.
