These two graphics come from two different sources in my local history database. The beautiful photo above comes from the R.C. Maxwell Collection at the Duke University Library. The ad below comes from the January 16, 1920 edition of the Trenton Evening Times. I can't say that I had ever been into the Shankman store. My family had to depend on hand me downs, and an occasional visit to the Metropole store where they sold discount clothing.
