1935: NORTH BROAD STREET AT EAST STATE.

I stood nearly on this exact spot back in the early 1950's when the news that Josef Stalin had died. How strange that I remember that event and the place and time. I am not sure of the actual date, but I do remember I was courting my wife to be Judy Britton Who worked in the Infants' Wear department of Yard's Department Store. Once again, the clarity of this R.C. Maxwell photo is splendid.I must admit I had to take a second and third look at this photo. The "ROXY" sign threw me a curve. Was there a Schulte store in another town? Was there another town with a Methodist Church going down a hill? I decided that the ROXY was a commercial venture.
