Once again from the "NOTABLE PERSONS" folder, this gentleman from the prominent Trenton Salamandra family. There are many noted Chambersburg persons listed in the list of participants in the testimonial dinner. (Am I the only one who remembers the Eldorado?)
.....I ALWAYS ADMIRED THE HOUSE ON GREENWOOD AVE, WHERE THE SALAMANDRA'S LIVED. THE ELDORADO ON FRANKLIN STREET WAS A VERY POPULAR PLACE FOR TESTEMONIALS. MY FRIENDS, THE DeGEORGE FAMILY WERE THE OWNERS IN THE 70'S. BEST REGARDS.
I had no idea it was called the Eldorando way back in the 1930s, for me the Salalandra name conjures up thoughts of my first paper route walking past Salamandra Liquor Store and the big Chimney closeby that was once part of Salamandra Laundry, in the quiet of a safe and clean mid 1970s morning in the Burg:)
