1939: TRENTON CATHOLIC 1939 FOOTBALL SQUAD

Even though this is a few years before my time, I would bet that "Catholic" was the same formidable opponents against Hamilton High as they were in my years at Hamilton in the1940's and 1950's. Whether it was basketball, football, soccer, or baseball, it was always a classic rivalry.

Note: there is a bit of vertical blur in the very center of the above graphic, due to a very damaging scotch taped center fold which required a bit of tweaking to remove from the final tweaking. However, you will see a few pixels which were completely lost in restoring the graphic.

HEY TOM....IF ANY TEAM DESERVES TO BE CALLED "THE FIGHTING IRISH", IT SURE IS THAT TRENTON CATHOLIC TEAM OF MOSTLY IRISH KIDS. I REMEMBER THE TEAM WELL AND PLAYED WITH MOST OF THEM DURING THE BASEBALL SEASON. THE SCHOOL EXCELLED IN MOST EVERY SPORT AND THEIR GAMES WITH HAMILTON AND TRENTON WERE OUTSTANDING.

Wow, Fred Morreli was one of the folks who would come to our office
in the Burg (Appraisal Exchange
1095 South Broad Street) and talk
about old times or the subject of the day. He was a WW2 Vet of the
Air Force. GREAT seeing this picture of him Tom, good work as
always:)
