1902: THE LALOR TRACT

THIS ARTICLE WAS POSTED IN JANUARY OF 2010. HOWEVER, THE IMPORTANCE OF THE HISTORY OF THE HOLDINGS OF THE LALOR FAMILY WHICH EXTENDED FROM THE DELAWARE RIVER, DEUTZVILLE-RIVERVIEW CEMETERY AREA TO AN AREA NEAR BROAD STREET PARK, AND NORTHWARD TO THE CASS STREET AND ADELINE STREET PLACE THIS HISTORIC ARTICLE IN THE CATEGORY OF HISTORIC SIGNIFICANCE.
(THE FORMER POST HAS BEEN DELETED AND MOVED UP TO RECENT POSTS.)

From deep within the millions of pages of Trenton newspapers comes this fascinating article telling interesting facts about the fabled "Lalor Tract." This 108 year old bit of history is quite difficult to classify. Along with interesting infomation on the Lalor family, there are tantalizing entries relating to Duck Island's tobacco and horseradish culture, Deutzville, Bow Hill, St. John's Cemetery, the D & R Canal, Jordan Mott and Roebling Companies, and numerous references to potteries. This article is a treasure trove of the South Trenton-Lalor-Bow Hill area of Hamilton Township.

this article is great. i lived on bunting avenue as a child and attended lalor school. we later moved to lafayette avenue behind the church but still attended lalor school, so we walked this ground for years on our way to school. we played there also, even before the housing development and lalor garden apts. were built. its nice to have a history of my childhood stomping grounds. two of my relatives lived in the houses in the lalor tract.

HI ANONYMOUS:

I wish my guest book would make it easier for signers to include their email address so I could add names to the "contacts" directory in my computer. Many thanks for visiting; I hope you return often.

I lived on Andrew St. in the Lalor tract area and was in the last 8th grade class to graduate from Lalor School in 1961. Charles Mitchell was the principal then. I still remember sitting in the auditorium and listening to his recording of The Grand Canyon Suite.
