1930: REPEALING THE SUNDAY "BLUE LAWS"

Welcome to Tom Glover's "History 101"
Way, way, way back history, religion and morality were an integral part of local society. As my mother in law was known to opine, "Sunday is a day of rest, and there was to be "no servile labor." It was an era in America governed by the "Blue Laws." Various religious groups were staunch advocates against baseball, movies, amusement parks, or other commercial activities on the Sabbath day. Drinking, dancing, and other carousing was strictly taboo. Thus, the conflict you will read about in the above graphic.
