1899 and 1934 DeCou and Fairview Park

A while back, I was asked why that area we know today as DeCou was known as Fairview Park. I could only speculate that before the area developed, it provided a beautiful view of forests and trees. The article above tells of selling building lots in that area. The photo below is from a 1934 ad announcing the establishment of Colonial Memorial Park.

Hi Tom:)
I don't have any ancestors in
here (they are all on cedar
lane or in ewing), so for me
this gate was always part of
the streetscape heading toward
Bordentown, especially Two Guys
and Whitehorse Bowling Lanes:)

White Horse Pool was on the way to 2 Guys and around the bowling lanes. Then it was covered over for some reason. I learned to swim there - in the late 50s early 60s. It was the best.
