Here's a photo that will warm the heart of many of us who remember Trenton's "glory years" when theaters dotted the downtown like today's banks and drug stores. As I looked at this photo I was taken back to the early 1950's when I had my very first date with Judy Britton, my dear wife of 55 years. We went to the RKO Capitol and saw "Show Boat" with Howard Keel and Kathryn Grayson. Ahh, such sweet memories! I bet you have memories of your own. Share them with us!

1979: TRENTON'S RKO CAPITOL THEATER
Here's a photo that will warm the heart of many of us who remember Trenton's "glory years" when theaters dotted the downtown like today's banks and drug stores. HI TOM; DURING THE DEPRESSION YEARS,WE VERY SELDOM GOT TO SIT ON THE FIRST FLOOR OF THE THEATERS. WHEN WE DID, IT REALLY FELT LIKE A NIGHT OUT. MOST OF THE TIME WE SAT UP STAIRS AND ALSO WAIT FOR THE MOVIE TO PLAY THE BROAD OR BIJOE. IN BETTER TIMES IT WAS GREAT TO SEE A FIRST RUN MOVIE DOWNTOWN AND SIT DOWN STAIRS. WE WERE VERY FORUNATE IN THOSE DAYS TO HAVE SO MANY NICE THEATERS. REGARDS
Hi Tom, As you are aware I don't go back quite as far as a few of you folks. But my great memories of trips to the cinemas of Trenton go back as far as 1954 seeing The Creature from The Black Lagoon in 3-D at the RKO Capitol and the bigger productions at the Lincoln, the Trent as well as the Mayfair. Though as a young film goer I think I enjoyed The Capitol the most as it was a B-Movie house with all the great Monster, Sci-Fi and Western films. One of the last and certainly best films with at this point the longest franchise histories was the first James Bond films Dr. No and yes I saw it at the capitol. I was so impressed I sat through it twice in those good old days when you could do that. Of course we can all still remember that famous quote "This is where we came in." I still love the flicks.
