The matches remind me of my Dad's matchbook cover collection. He wrote people all over the country, after the War. He also played chess games via postcards, with his WWII Marine buddies. Heaven forbid, we boys messed up his board(s). Took him a long time to finish those games, but a great way to stay in touch with buddies.
