1933: EMPLOYMENT PICTURE IMPROVES

From the "GREAT DEPRESSION" folder, this article dealing with the slight up-turn in the economy some 3-1/2 to 4 years after the 1929 stock market crash. My parents were among those on what was known as "Relief," but we know of today as "Welfare." Strange the way history repeats many events.

Hi Tom: I sure remember those years. My father worked on the crew that built Junior 2. All he received weekly was a food order, We all did work on the side to make ends meet. I worked on the NYA(National Youth Administration) 6 days a month for $18. A few dollars went a long way, do you recall the $1 a week bus passes. DeAngelo built the Del Rio restaurant with blocks they tore up after the trolley cars. Regards, Ralph
