1934: WOODLAWN PARK

Here's a relatively rare and pretty vibrant photo of "The Whip" at Woodlawn Park in Hamilton. The entrance to the park was off So. Logan Avenue. It was located in the area of Greenwood, Connecticut, and down to the Quincy Avenue area.

Tom,

Did the park evolve into Woodlawn Pool back in the 60s? That was a pretty decent pool, IIRC.

We used to ride our bikes to the pool from the 'Burg, and spend some good afternoons there.

We tested the theory that eating a hot dog and going swimming without waiting for an hour would give you cramps and make you drown. ;-)

From there, it was a short hop to Carvel's for a soft ice cream cone, then back to the 'Burg we went.
