A number of years ago, I was one of the tour guides for the Trenton Contemporary Club's annual "Four Views of Trenton." One of the tour stops was a visit to a home in Cadwalader Place. That visit left a lasting impression on me as I realized that Trenton has managed to retain some of the most beautiful neighborhoods. The residents have managed to maintain their classic beauty and bucolic settings. Cadwalader Place, along with the Berkeley-Carteret, Glen Afton, and Hiltonia neighborhoods, allows one to savor the essence of life as it was lived in the Trenton of yesteryear before the mid 20th century urban blight and urban flight occurred.

This home is located on Riverside Ave., between Gouveneer (sp?) and Parkside Ave. facing Route 29. Of course when it was built, it faced teh Sanhican Water Power Canal.
THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT, JAY.

By the way, Cadwalader Place is now known as Berkley Square.
Thanks again, Jay. I didn't know that. However, when I did my Contemporary tour, we were told we were going to a home at Cadwalader Place.

When it was first developed by Edmund C. Hill, in the late 1800's, it was developed as Cadwalader Place. In fact, the house that is pictured was the first home built there and if I recall correctly, it was for Edmund Hill's father. I am a big fan of all things Cadwalader, especially the neighborhoods that were developed on their former estate (Cadwalader Place ((now Berkley Square)), Cadwalader Heights, Oak Lane, the 800 and 900 blocks of Parkside Avenue, and Cadwalader Terrace ((located between Parkway, Parkside, Oakland and Brinton Aves)).
Anyone know history of 900 berkeley ave? A picture in the
Trenton library shows home just
built with a sign "Kuser" held up
and back of photo states "H.H. Kuser"....can't find out anything else.

Yes, anonymous. 900 Berkeley Avenue was the home of Harry Kuser.
