Do you remember when Abraham Lincoln's birthday was celebrated on February 12, and Washington's on February 22? I do. Do you remember when our school classrooms had a portrait of George Washington on the left side of the room and Honest Abe on the right? I do. "President's Day" combined the two birthdays and wiped out years of historic tradition.
