1938: THE KILLER HURRICANE OF SEPTEMBER, 1938

It took the Rafferty administration to figure out how to stop the flooding of Pond Run in the Bromley section of Hamilton. Prior to the construction of the concrete spillway back in the 1970's the folks along Greenwood, Johnston, Richland, and other streets in the area became inundated with flood waters. Here are two photos showing the area as the great hurricane of 1938 ran up the middle Atlantic to New England, spreading death and destruction.
