1869: THE UNION STREET SCHOOL

I DON'T THINK THERE IS A UNION STREET IN TRENTON IN THIS YEAR OF 2008. IT WAS ONE OF THE SIDE STREETS OFF OF MARKET STREET, "DOWN THE HILL," WHERE THE JUSTICE COMPLEX IS LOCATED AND OTHER STATE BUILDINGS. I WOULD BET THAT THE UNION SCHOOL WAS ONE OF THOSE ONE ROOM SCHOOL HOUSES REPLETE WITH A WOOD BURNING STOVE IN THE CORNER......OF COURSE THAT IS SPECULATION ON MY PART, BUT IT WAS THE ERA BEFORE THE FOUR ROOM SCHOOL HOUSE BECAME THE RULE.
