ONE OF THE UNFORTUNATE FEATURES OF EARLY 20TH CENTURY NEWSPAPERS WAS THE DEARTH OF CLEAR GRAPHICS. HOW GREAT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN HAD THE ARTICLE ABOVE BEEN ACCOMPANIED BY ILLUSTRATIONS OF VARIOUS ASPECTS OF WHITE CITY.

Hi Tom,
White City Park has always interested me, my parents talked about it often. I walked down to the lake many times myself in the 50's and it's hard to imagine that an amusement park was actually there. I wonder why it didn't succeed. The newspaper articles you posted from that time boasted its opening date and not that many years later, they put it up for sale and there were no buyers!! In fact, I think I'm the only one who is commenting. It's so sad.
