AS A CARD CARRYING "BROMLEYITE" FOR LO THESE 45 YEARS, I HAVE A NATURAL AFFECTION FOR THE EARLIER YEARS OF THIS NEIGHBORHOOD. MY LIBRARY SEARCHES HAVE UNCOVERED MANY INTERESTING FACTS. MY ATLANTIC AVENUE HOME IS ON THE SITE OF THE FORMER WOODLAWN PARK. JUST AROUND THE CORNER ON CONNECTICUT AND GREENWOOD WAS "RUDY'S," A POPULAR NIGHT SPOT IN YEARS GONE BY. A FEW BLOCKS UP TOWARD THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING IS THE LOCATION OF THE "OTHER" PALOMBI STORE.....AND OF COURSE, I HAVE A REALLY GREAT PHOTO OF THE OLD "COOK'S" SODA SHOP, DELI, AND MAGAZINE STAND, WHICH ONCE OCCUPIED THE CORNER OF GREENWOOD AND JOHNSTON AVENUES.....RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM HARVEY SILK'S LEGENDARY DRUG STORE. WE IN THE BROMLEY NEIGHBORHOOD REALLY MISS HARVEY SILK AND HIS VERY PROMPT AND PERSONAL SERVICE.
