1943: RECRUITING WOMEN FOR THE WAAC


WHEN WE HEAR STORIES OF "THEGREATEST GENERATION," WE SELDOM MENTION THE INCREDIBLE SACRIFICE MADE BY THE WOMEN DURING WORLD WAR II. THE ENGRAVING SHOWS SOME OF THE LOCAL LADIES WHO ARE GOING INTO THE "WAAC," WHICH WAS THEN KNOWN AS THE "WOMENS' AUXILIARY ARMY CORPS." LATER ON IT WAS CHANGED TO "WAC," WOMENS' ARMY CORPS. THESE COURAGEOUS LADIES PLAYED A VERY IMPORTANT PART IN THE WAR EFFORT.
