One of my favorite subjects in local history is the newspaper stories of our forefathers who came to this country to better themselves. My Italian-American folder is brimming with fascinating slices of life as experienced by the Italians as they came to America to start a new life. Likewise, I have been accumulating numerous material on the Jewish folks who came and settled in the Trenton area, especially the little community which was once a very important part of the city. Union St. Cooper Street, Market Street and the surrounding area south of Broad Street was a thriving community for many years before urban renewal occurred in Trenton in the middle of the 20th century. The fascinating photo and article on the laying of the cornerstone for the beautiful Har Sanai Temple in Trenton is a worthy acquisition. Unforunately, the size of the photo and the accompanying article combine to make it difficult to read. It is however, on file at the library in a size which can be zoomed in for legibility purposes.
