Yardley Beers, Delaware Valley Radio Association

This 1932 photo reports on the amateur radio activities of DVRA pioneer Yardley Beers. Mr. Beers is seated in his shack, with a communications console loaded with what we amateurs today consider to be "boat anchors" due to their large size and heavy weight. Today's amateur radio equipment is solid state technology and miniscule in size when compared with Mr. Beers' "shack" as shown in the photo.
If you are an amateur radio "wannabe, " or just interested in short wave listening ("SWL-ing"), you can contact the Delaware Valley Radio Association (DVRA) at www.w2zq.com. The club headquarters is in Ewing township at the Bear Tavern Road exit of route 95.
