This photo of center city Trenton as it appeared in 1934 is a true treasure. Old time Trenton area residents will recognize the theater marquees on both sides of East State St.

HI Tom - neat photo of E. State Street & corner of Montgomery Street, where the public rest rooms were located in the middole of Montgomery Street. Ground level were for ladies & below ground level were for men. There is a traffic policeman under the umbrella, with the traffic sign that could be rotated to esither display GO or STOP. Stach Theater was on right side of State & Orpheum was on left as this view displays looking west on E. State Street. The photographer must have been standing near the curb of East State Street in front of the old Post Office - diagonally across the street from the Broad Street Bank Building. Take note that the Trenton Electric Trolly cars were satill inh in use in 1934. Take note fo ther trolley tracks also. I thin the traffic "Turnstile" is displaying STOP. 73's Sid.
I remember those johns - was always afraid to use'em! Directly across the street from the bank is Sam's Shoe Repair. They also blocked hats. The fragrance of the shoe polish and steamed felt is a fond memory.
Trenton Savings Fund Society was west of the bank, and Croasdale and Englehart jewellers was around the corner from the bank on Montgomery St. There was also an Esso station and patking garage below that store. (These recollections are from the 40s.) Candy Frenking Jens
