1932: EXITING THE TRENTON-MORRISVILLE "FREE BRIDGE"

While the company signs shown in the photo were not there, this was a very familiar view to me back in the summers of the 1940's and 50's as we crossed the "free bridge" to get to what were known as the "gravel pits" over in the Penn Valley area. Following the street to Trenton would be far different today with the streets in that area of South Trenton due to the new roads cut through to afford easier access to the offices in the Cooper-Market Street areas.

This is a different version of a previously later picture of this view. Wonderful. Taken a year before I was born, and just a block away from the famoous event on Dec.15, 1933.
The Esso sign reminds me of my Parker School joke " Spell IPSO"
I P S O., "than why not open a gas station"! Lost my humor when they changed to EXXON!
This street, and the places herein were my playground in the late 30's and 40's. Many wonderful people from here, that left me with equally great memories.
