My kids have a rough time accepting the fact that Judy and I had to scrape in order to purchase our home back in 1962. At a selling price of $17,000, we had to skimp and save in order to procure a mortgage. Back then, I found it hard to believe that my mom and dad went through the same financial bind as they struggled to by our Hartley Avenue home for $2,500!
