2014: BACK FOR 2 MORE WEEKS BEFORE THE TEMPS DROP

A number of folks have suggested a September series as a continuation of my 8 week summer 2014 series of music sing along programs, SO here we go. I have cleared it with Recreation Director Marty Flynn and Ms. Nicole Zoller and if the weather holds, we will do one last set of musical programs at the Kuser Park gazebo. September can be a lovely month of the year when there is no rain in the forecast. I am hoping that we will be favored with 2 nice crisp fall afternoonS with low humidity and comfortable temperatures. However, experience has taught me that September can also be a month with numerous rainy days. In that event, rainy programs will be cancelled with no rain date. Bring a folding chair, sweater or blanket and come for one last FALL FLING!

2014: FINAL SUNDAY AFTERNOON SING ALONG

The last of my 2014 Kuser Farm Park singalong presentations was beyond all expectations as more than 50 and nearly 60 local citizens came to enjoy a summer evening of listenable music. It was my privilege to have my son Tom make an appearance at the event, and as usual, he had the audience in palm of his hand as he did a few of his Irish songs, mixed in with a few John Denver selections. We did a couple of duets together and found that we still have the ability to do perfect harmony. Lord willing, I will be back at the microphone next year and as the Lord allows me to keep my 81 year old voice from failing.
NOTE: TO KICK OFF THE LABOR DAY WEEKEND FOR THOSE OF US WHO ARE "HOME BODIES," I WILL BE BRINGING MY MUSIC TO THE BEAUTIFUL LAWN AT THE HAMILTON LIBRARY ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 31 FROM 3 TO 5 PM.

The schedule this year is for the kickoff songfest to be on the lawn at the Hamilton Library tomorrow and again next Sunday from 3 to 5 P.M., after which the program will move to gazebo at Kuser Park for the months of July and August with programs being presented from 6 to 8 P.M.. Bring a folding chair or blanket and come spend a pleasant 2 hour interlude of
music that I hope will never die!

2014: TOM GLOVER'S SUNDAY KUSER PARK GAZEBO PROGRAM

When you're out in those wide open spaces at Kuser Park, there will never be a standing room only crowd coming to my Sunday afternoon music/nostalgia presentations. The reason is obvious:For many years, professional musicians performed here. That was before the recreational financial expenses had to be curtailed. It all happened back during former Mayor Glenn Gilmore's administration, when the cuts were made. We were left without the wonderful music of my friend Dick Chimes and his Polish Polka band, Bob Smith and his Lamplighters, The Daisy Jug Band, and many other wonderful talented musicians. With all the humility I could muster, I volunteered to fill the void with my non professional music. My offer was accepted, and the standing room only crowds that had been attending the music from the aforementioned professionals, diminished to a precious few. But how those few enjoyed our little Sunday sing alongs! This year, assuming that Hamilton Township wants me back, it is my intent to return for my 8th (or is it 9th?) summer. This year, I am going to extend the season, and also experiment with outdoor computer projection in order to see if bright daylight will be too much for screen legibility with words to the songs projected on a movie screen. Stay tuned!

The fun event will take place on Saturday, December 15 from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M and will really put you in the Christmas spirit as well as assist those libraries which weren't as fortunate as our Hamilton Library. 2013: PREVIEWS OF COMING ATTRACTIONS

Above is a very small chronological listing of just a few of the subjects from the *"AMERICAN-ITALIAN" folder in the Hamilton Township Public Library Local History Collection.

The coming of the fall and winter season brings my summer 2012 music programs at the Kuser Farm Gazebo to a close. With the seasonal change comes change in venue the Kuser Farm Mansion where I will be presenting my history and music programs to those citizens who are interested. I have been collecting. digitizing enhancing and saving local historical bits and pieces of local history in subjects ranging from "A" (Abbott) to "Y;" (Yardville.) I will be presenting some the the vast collection of folders I have amassed over the past 50 years and are a part of what is becoming a huge database of local history in the Local History Collection of the Hamilton Township Public Library. Above a preview of coming attractions that I have have stored in my computer for just one of the future program which will be presented as an on-screen presentation at the Kuser Farm Theater. The large green space at the bottom of the graphic beginning with "An on-screen presentation..." will be replaced with the date and time which this program will be presented. Based on the number of citizens who saw the first Chambersburg presentation of a few years ago, I am sure there will be an interest in this up-dated version which will also touch on many of the articles and photos I have in an allied computer folders entitled, "American-Italian" and another "St. Joachim's Parish." My interest in the Italian families who came to America and settled in a country that at the time was not too cordial in welcoming these foreigners into the area is a fascinating story. Included are stories of how they labored at back-breaking jobs on the railroad, John A. Roebling's factory, and other labor intensive jobs, but still managed to go to night school to learn the English language, and volunteer their time to help to build a church of their own.

*My dear friend, the late Italian historian Bob Immordino corrected me many years ago when I used the then-common term "Italian-American." Bob asked me to please use the term
"AMERICAN-ITALIAN," and I do that to this very day.

2012: DON'T MISS "THE KUSERS OF HAMILTON"

On Sunday afternoon., May 20, 2012 at 1:30 P.M., I will be presenting an on screen multimedia presentation entitled, "THE KUSERS OF HAMILTON." The program will be a thumbnail sketch of the early years of the Kuser family, beginning with Rosalie and Rudolph Kuser's Pond Run Road farm which is adjacent to Hamilton Township's beautiful Kuser Farm Park. This presentation is being billed as a "thumbnail" sketch due to the fact that the Hamilton Township Public Library has an extensive library of articles and photos on the Kuser, Howe, Maddock, Howell, and other prominent local families who played a part in the Kuser history. The collection is being expanded as I post this graphic. I am now searching for material on the Maddock family, and the countless local dignitaries with whom the Kusers were involved over the past one hundred plus years, including Bentley Pope, the Lenhardt family, New Jersey governors, senators, and the list goes on and on. This event will prove to be of interest to any who always wondered about the history of the "Homestead" on Kuser Road and that beautiful 1896 "Country Home" of Frederick and Teresa Kuser which has become Hamilton Township's Kuser Farm Park.
For reservations, Email Ms. Tracey Destribats at tdestribats@hamiltonnj. com, or Tom Glover at tglover320@optimum.net
with the number of seats you wish to reserve. Seating is limited, so reserve early.

2012: THE KUSER'S OF HAMILTON - MARK YOUR CALENDARS

My family's long time connection with the Edna and Fred Kuser's Kuser Farm going back to the late 1930's, has led to a mission on my part to compile anything and everything I can find relating to this remarkable family. I have composed the above broadside to announce an interesting look into the family with historic articles and photos on the family from the mid 1800's when Rosalie Prieth Kuser and Rudolph Kuser acquired the Benjamin Lord Farm, "on Pond Run Road to the road leading from the White Horse Tavern to Sandtown." The program will consist of an on-screen presentation along with a lecture on those articles of interest I have uncovered after more than 30 years of research. There is still much more to be discovered, and it will be added to the Hamilton Township Public Library's Local History Collection under two folders: "KUSER FAMILY-RELATED," and "KUSER FARM."

Tom - The "'s" in Kuser's is not necessary - it's not showing ownership, just a plural!
Should read "The Kusers of Hamilton."
