There are many Over these many years since I have been into computing, When I am at my local presentations and ask how many in the audience are into computing, I find that there are MANY who use it for email only. The above classes will get you going full steam ahead. There are untold treasures to be found when one becomes proficient in computing; furthermore, it is NOT a complicated process. 1923 - 2013: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO THE HAMILTON TOWMSHIP LIBRARY!

What a privilege it is to be a part of the Hamilton Township Public Library! Were it not for this 90 year old community treasure, there would be no "Tom Glover's Hamilton Scrapbook." Indeed, there would be no Tom Glover spending countless hours trying to record the history and nostalgia of a heretofore neglected historical mission. There would be no daily and nightly parking lot filled or nearly filled with local residents who come to partake of the library's generous offerings, offered by knowledgeable and courteous personnel. 

1923: THE RURAL HAMILTON TOWNSHIP PUBLIC LIBRARY

When one considers the splendid and huge Hamilton Township Public Library of the year 2013 and compares it with the library as it was 90 years ago, a vision of a rural farming community comes into focus. As seen, local schools and prominent stores were repositories for books for local Hamiltonians.

1975: BEHOLD! MY HOME AWAY FROM HOME

Here's an article by my old friend Wayne Davis from the Mercer Messenger as well as an Amateur Radio colleague. Wayne who wrote of the dedicatory ceremonies for the new Hamilton Township Public Library back in 1975.  Little did I know those 38 years ago that I would ultimately finish my working career as the unofficial "Local Historian" of this wonderful Township of Hamilton. My Local History workshop (not office!) can be seen in the photo on the lower right. As you can see, there are 3 floors. The Local History Collection is the lower row of windows in the far right of the photo.

1934: CHILDREN'S BOOK WEEK AT THE LIBRARY

This photo was taken when the Hamilton Township Public Library was located in the basement of the township municipal building at 2090 Greenwood Avenue. I have many pleasant memories of visiting that small and austere library back in the 1940's and early 1950's. The Dewey decimal system survives, but long gone are the cabinets that held those little library cards that listed titles, location, etc.

2012: EAGLE SCOUTS: GOD BLESS THEM, AND THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA!

I have long been an admirer of the Boy Scouts of America, and an even more ardent admirer of the Eagle Scouts. My amateur radio friend Gary Wilson has been a staunch advocate for the Boy Scouts of America, and has devoted countless hours to that wonderful organization, all of which resulted in accomplishments that resulted in molding young and fertile minds which in turn has benefited our local communities. Here in the Hamilton area, Theresa and Steve Mundt family has a young son named Ben, who is in the process of attacking his project for the Eagle scouts that will be of extraordinary benefit to Hamilton Township Public Library and the entire local area. The graphics above show some of the crew preparing the foundation of a 12 x 12 gazebo that Ben, his dad Steve and grandfather Gordon along with Life Scout Ben Peluso are going to build on the beautiful lawn in a wooded vale at the Hamilton Township Public Library. Our many volunteers are unsung and often unrecognized community heroes.....Let's not forget that! You can bet that Tom Glover will be bringing numerous music and historic events to that Victorian gem when it is completed, as will other Library departments and local citizens. Incidentally, Ben Mundt's Mom, Theresa Mundt, is also a community volunteer along with the wonderful and selfless volunteers from the Friends of Hamilton Township Public Library. The "Friends" have been responsible for countless contributions to the library, including new furniture, electronics, and other critical library needs.
